Book club therapy

We’ll dive into Lindsay Gibson’s book “Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self Involved Parents” in a safe, therapeutic environment.

This is a virtual 12-week therapeutic group designed to help process emotions related to difficult relationships with parental figures. The initial meeting of the group will be an individual session with the therapist to understand therapeutic needs and fit. It will be followed by 10 weekly group meetings to process each chapter of the book and any related thoughts or feelings together with the group and the therapist. The last meeting will be a close out meeting to reflect together regarding progress and transition from the group.

Group therapy is a beneficial way to both begin healing and understanding more about yourself while also connecting with others who are having similar experiences. Groups allow us to both give and receive feedback and experience our growth and change together with others on a similar path. It can also be a cost effective option if budgeting is a concern.

The best part of being with a group is simply realizing that you are not alone.
